  ABB announces OmniCore robot control

9. July 2018 – ABB has unveiled its OmniCore controllers designed for 24/7 operation of factories manufacturing products.

The first OmniCore variants are designed to integrate robots Digital factory ecosystem, whether manufacturers need standardized motion control or customized solutions. The digital offering from ABB Ability and Connected Services is integrated, as is the security software solution SafeMove2 from ABB. This allows the controllers to turn every connected industrial robot into a collaborative robot. OmniCore also enables connection to a variety of fieldbuses, advanced vision systems, and force control as part of a larger digital ecosystem.

The controller family comes with ABB's Robot-Ware7 operating system. Access is via an ergonomic FlexPendant.

The first copies of the small robot controller family are expected to be available in November 2018.
