ABB Announces New Connectivity Capabilities for the ABB Ability Electrical Distribution Control System

31. May 2018 – ABB industrial customers will shortly receive warnings for predictive maintenance of their facility's electrical distribution system. ABB is adding new connection functions to its ABB Ability electrical distribution control system.

ABB's Electrical Distribution Control System is a cloud-based tool for power systems. Plug-and-play modules provide sensor technology and a direct connection to the cloud. ABB's solution is scalable, enabling multi-site customers to manage and monitor remote locations from anywhere. Users can allocate energy consumption and costs to specific equipment, and the ABB Abity electricity distribution control system helps them optimize energy consumption by providing data-driven insights and alerts via smartphone, tablet or PC.

ABB maintenance experts helped develop the new algorithms making maintenance smarter. This feature aims to optimize maintenance intervals and replace routine maintenance with intelligent maintenance that meets actual requirements based on actual use of the circuit breaker. Factors include the number of mechanical operations; Rated current, overload and short circuit; and environmental conditions such as humidity, temperature, vibration and corrosion.
