  ams Announces CMV50000 CMOS Image Sensor

June 2018 – The CMV50000, a 48-megapixel CMOS image sensor with global shutter technology for demanding image processing applications, has gone into mass production. 19659003] The CMV50000 features a 35 mm format 7920 x 6004 4.6-μm pixel array based on an eight-transistor pixel architecture. It works at 30 fps with 12-bit pixel depth at full resolution or Binned 4K and 8K modes, and even faster – up to 60 fps – with pixel subsampling at 4K resolution.

The CMV50000 is designed to provide the detailed views of a large surface required in factory automation applications such as automatic optical inspection (AOI) and mobile display, mobile, tablet and laptop display systems.

The pixel ams The architecture provides efficiency of the electronic shutter and the global shutter operation creates images of fast moving objects. The sensor offers a dynamic dynamic range of 64 dB at full resolution and up to 68 dB in 4K mode. The image sensor implements an on-chip noise reduction circuit, such as black level clamping, which allows images to be taken in low light conditions.
