Engineers need to work with components, submodules, and entire products that come from outside their organization. they did not design that. These elements need to be evaluated in terms of performance, price, availability, and shape, fit, and feature qualities along with internally designed design content, but PLM systems do not manage the situation of mixed and internally generated content very well. An industrial technology manager recently said, "90% of technical design is shopping." A reference to the time engineers spend outside productive design work, focusing on nonproductive content-related activities.
Respondents were asked in a recent survey entitled "CIMdata Cloud PLM Survey 2018: What are the PLM challenges today? The biggest problem among respondents is the cross-functional coordination between the members of the stakeholder network.
