Many Large Effective Area Fibers are developed independently by many manufacturers. A partner in compound components with expertise in how the epoxy resin affects the fiber in the ferrule types used today is critical. The Ångström Bond Solutions Center will provide this epoxy expertise through technical content, best practices, weekly tips and a dedicated adhesives expert, Kelly Barker.

FOC assists customers in assembling cable assemblies. This is achieved through partnerships with various manufacturers to provide equipment and consumables that are used in every step of the cable assembly process. In the epoxy step, FOC developed ÅngströmBond, a specialty adhesive line developed exclusively for fiber optics. The Ångström Bond Solutions Center will meet individual customer requirements by offering specialized stock materials or bespoke high-tech epoxy resins in customized package sizes. One of the adhesive solutions presented is the ÅngströmBond 9123 product that meets the GR-326 test and Telcordia specifications.

Ångström Bond 9123 is a low-viscosity two-part epoxy adhesive. It is intended for bonding and potting optical connectors, fibers, lenses, prisms and other optical components. It is recommended for single-fiber singlemode termination, and if you use a ramp curve schedule, this is also a choice for multi-mode termination. This epoxy resin was designed to have a high Tg and lower fiber piston properties over other epoxy resins.
