H2W Technologies releases the linear motor LMAA-04-01

H2W Technologies Announces Linear Induction Motor LMAA-04-01

19. November 2018 - H2W engineers have developed a linear induction motor (LMAA-04-01) that can produce 10.6 lbs [47 N] at 15% duty cycle. At 208 VAC 3-phase 60 Hz, the synchronous speed of this LIM is 160 in / s [4 m/s]. The LIM measures 1.69 "X 3.00" x 8.70 "[43 mm x 76 mm x 221 mm] This LIM was developed for high-speed operation. However, it can also be operated at standstill (zero speed) to produce static thrust. This engine is encapsulated with a 350 ° F [176°C] potting compound that protects the components and protects them from moisture.

A LIM is a non-contact linear motor that operates on the same principle as a squirrel cage rotary induction motor. They are used in applications where positioning is not required.

The three-phase coil assembly can be connected directly to the AC power line for single speed applications or to a frequency converter for stepless control of the motor. The motors are reversible and can also be braked dynamically.

The laminated coil assembly is used in conjunction with a customer supplied aluminum and steel reaction plate to generate a force. A customer-supplied storage system is required to maintain the air gap of 0.125 "[3.0 mm] between the coil assembly and the reaction plate The width of the reaction plate corresponds to the width of the LIM and the length corresponds to the length of the coil assembly plus the stroke
