Makino introduces the 5-axis vertical machining center D200Z from Makino

5. July 2018 -Macino announces the 5-axis VMC D200Z. Makino's D200Z 5-axis Vertical Machining Center combines machine motion and accuracy with motion control software development. From roughing to high-speed machining of complex, contoured 3D geometries, the D200Z increases productivity with the most competitive processing capabilities for complex shapes and forms typically found in the automotive, injection molding, packaging, medical and optical industries

D200Z is equipped with an integrated chuck to maximize the working zone volume and load capacity. It enables workpiece sizes up to 300 mm in diameter and 210 mm in height with a weight of up to 75 kg. The X, Y and Z axes (350 mm, 300 mm and 250 mm respectively) ensure traverse movement and feed speeds of 60 m / min. The D200Z also has a B-axis tilting structure with 180 degrees (0 to +180) tilt at 100 rpm. Both the B-axis and the rotary C-axis (360 degrees continuously at 150 rpm) have direct drive motors for responsive angular and rotational operation.

The design of the D200Z is 1500 mm wide and 2220 mm deep. All machine elements and peripherals are strategically located in the main body of the machine to limit the overall machine footprint. Both the standard automatic tool changer (ATC) with 20 tools and the optional ATC with 40 tools fit into the same machine surface. In addition, the tool magazine can be optionally extended to 100 and 300 tools.

Wide base castings and core-cooled ball screws serve as the basis for all other machine components. The 30,000 RPM HSK-E50 spindle features a spindle core and shell cooling system to control thermal growth, deflection and vibration during machining.

An integrated pallet lining enhances the rigidity and rigidity of the machine tool. In addition, this design has a common palette interface that can be easily integrated into a variety of automated cells and systems that are prevalent in today's tooling, tooling and mold making environments.

The D200Z can also be equipped with a graphite machining package – Axes production of graphite electrodes.
