Omron supports North Central College in opening the Omron Design and Automation Lab

Omron Helps North Central College at the Omron Design and Automation Lab

11. May 2018 – North Central College celebrated the opening of a lab on May 8 in Dr. Ing. Myron Wentz Science Center with a ceremonial band. The Omron Design and Automation Lab will provide an exciting opportunity for North Central College engineering students to work with technologies that are currently used in the industry while building their own workstations on the many workstations available.

Providing students with access to modern technology is a central purpose of the Wentz Science Center, and the laboratory will play a key role in this effect. The lab was built with financial support from the Omron Foundation, which coordinates the charitable efforts of Omron's companies in the United States. Omron is a provider of automation technology and creative solutions to address societal challenges, and the foundation supports engineering education and MINT initiatives across K-12 education levels.

The Omron Foundation has also granted all faculties and students of North Central College unlimited access to its e-learning modules, which are replete with information on core technologies such as vision, robotics, control, movement and safety. Starting in the academic year 2018-2019, they will be an integral part of North Central College's four-year bachelor's degree in computer, electrical and mechanical engineering.

The Omron Foundation has also sponsored North Central College's Japanese program of scholarships, allowing students to visit Japan every year and study there for a period of ten weeks or more. Omron has been supporting the Japanese Language Program since 2008 with the goal of helping students improve Japanese-American intercultural understanding.
