10. May 2018 – Red Lion Controls announced that its Crimson 3.1 software now supports OPC's OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA) communications capabilities for industrial automation. Foundation

For use with Red Lions HMIs and DAQ products, companies can: use the OPC UA to collect data, do so without the need for additional hardware, software, or special code to populate the data. Customers can transfer machine data directly to enterprise business systems from a single source via a single solution.

With the support of OPC UA, Crimson 3.1 acts as a server for publishing data to OPC UA clients, often from manufacturing to the data center. With the ability to communicate with 300 industrial protocols, Crimson 3.1 can bring in data from various automation devices and convert it into OPC UA for delivery to enterprise business systems.

The Crimson 3.1 OPC UA Server today works with Red Lion Graphite HMIs, Graphite Controllers, and CR3000 HMIs. Crimson 3.1 software provides support for many additional Ethernet and serial drivers such as Ethernet / IP, DNP3, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU and many others. With a graphical drag-and-drop user interface and a host of hardware offerings that support multiple simultaneous conversions, customers can integrate new functionality into virtually any PLC, PC or SCADA system.
