  Siemens and Alibaba Cloud Announce Partnership to Strengthen the Industrial Internet of Things in China

9. July 2018 – Siemens and Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to partner the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) in China. The two companies will leverage each other's technology and industry resources to develop a unique IoT solution that supports Industry 4.0, China's production improvement and transformation, and other industrial Internet initiatives. Joe Kaeser, President and CEO of Siemens AG, and Simon Hu, Alibaba Group's Senior Vice President and President of Alibaba Cloud, signed the Memorandum in Berlin during an official visit to Germany from the perspective of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang. [19659003] As part of Siemens' comprehensive digital offering, MindSphere is the cloud-based, open IoT operating system from Siemens, offering a range of device and enterprise connectivity options, applications, analytics, and closed-loop innovations with complete digital twin solutions. The implementation of MindSphere in the Alibaba Cloud will provide companies in mainland China with innovations in industrial solutions.

Under the MoU, both companies will work together immediately and intend to make MindSphere available on Alibaba Cloud in 2019.
