Siemens and Bentley Systems Announce Process Industries Academy

12. June 2018 – The Siemens Process Industries and Drives (PD) and Digital Factory (DF) businesses, along with Bentley Systems and the Bentley Institute, are driving the digital life-cycle forward by establishing a Process Industries Academy. The aim of the academy is to share best practices for plant construction and operation. Academies are located in the strategic locations of Karlsruhe, Germany (Siemens Process Automation World), Houston, Texas / USA (Bentley Digital Advancement Academy) and Shanghai, China (Siemens Process Industry Center for Excellence) to support the global process industry. The first event will take place in the second half of 2018 at the Siemens Process Automation World in Karlsruhe.

Against the background of recent developments in the process industries, for example in the markets for oil, gas and global energy and the consequent effects on crop production, established working methods are constantly reviewed throughout the life cycle of plants. Lower investment in greenfield projects and a stronger focus on optimizing the productivity, performance and utilization of existing facilities are driving plant operators to look for new ways to increase their competitiveness and revenue. A holistic approach to continuously improving the underlying business processes must include consideration of the interaction between the available business resources and all employees involved in a project and the latest technology. An insight into the optimization of plant engineering and operations by Bentley and Siemens using cloud-based technologies was recently presented in a white paper by the ARC Advisory Group.

Based on the experience and know-how of the leading experts in the field The Industries Academy will offer training demonstrating the essentials of digitization through practical examples for more efficient planning, development and successful operation of facilities. Participants will learn how developing a clear digital strategy improves collaboration, communication and coordination between project teams and creates an ideal environment for optimizing the generation of information and digital workflows
