Siemens introduces Digital Enterprise Portfolio at AMB

10. August 2018 – At the AMB in Stuttgart, the International Metalworking Exhibition, Siemens will showcase the Digital Enterprise portfolio for implementing Industry 4.0 in the machine tool world. It helps machine tool manufacturers and users to harness the potential of digitization. Under the motto "Digitalization in Machine Tool Manufacturing – Now Implement!" On a 270 square meter Stand B03 in Hall 2, Siemens shows machine tool users and manufacturers how end-to-end digitization solutions work from the machine tool to the enterprise management level and the cloud.

The integrated, consistent and open offering of various digitization platforms from Siemens provides the technical basis:

  • MindSphere, the open and cloud-based IoT operating system, helps customers to use the cloud Digitization in machine tools
  • Siemens Industrial Edge enables local data processing directly on the machine tool and integrates it into the appropriate automation solution.
  • Sinumerik Integrate demonstrates how machine tools are integrated into production IT all the different applications and a combination of the three digitization platforms, machine builders and machine users will have the opportunity to experience first-hand at the Siemens booth, such as digitizing in of production and what the potential is. With these offerings, users have the opportunity to use the complete spectrum from traditional local data processing to cloud-based data processing for their individual requirements.

With this offer, the technology company demonstrates in which machine tool manufacturers can increase their production flexibility and efficiency, reduce their engineering effort and digitize their operation. The digitization portfolio for machine users covers the entire value chain from product design through production planning to engineering, actual production and digital services. With its holistic approach, Siemens is able to design the real process chain of the machine user in the virtual world identically (digital twin).

At the AMB, Siemens will be showing new applications for MindSphere, Edge Computing on the machine tool with Sinumerik Edge and Sinumerik Integrate. The applications were partially developed in collaboration with customers and partners. Key factors for working with customers and partners are the consistency of the digital system used and the open ecosystem of the platforms. Mechanical engineers can now apply their specific machine and process know-how to basic applications from Siemens and develop tailor-made applications, solutions and services for their customers.

For MindSphere, Siemens is showing transparency and production planning applications on the AMB machine. For the first time, Siemens will be presenting applications with Sinumerik Edge in machining and machine analysis, including a special app that can be used in trochoidal milling. Sinumerik Integrate will be extended to include applications that optimize tool availability and reduce machine downtime. With new applications for MindSphere, Sinumerik Edge and Sinumerik Integrate, Siemens is demonstrating to machine tool builders and users alike how to use their integrated, consistent and open ecosystem of digital platforms to increase productivity in their various applications.

In addition, at the AMB, Siemens starts services that accompany customers on their way to digitization, from needs analysis through implementation and follow-up, to advice on optimizing production processes.

Siemens also provides the Die AMB offers a variety of hardware and software solutions for their Sinumerik portfolio. The software version Sinumerik 828 from Siemens includes functions such as Collision Avoidance Eco or Nodding Compensation Eco / Advance. There is also a Sinumerik 828 Panel Processing Unit equipped with a 1 GB X130 Ethernet interface. Visitors to the exhibition stand can also gain their own impression of the operating concepts of the Sinumerik series and machining functions. Showcases focusing on robotics and additive manufacturing show how Sinumerik is used in these technologies and how it can be integrated into production environments and technologies.
