Siemens launches Ruggedcom RSG908C and Ruggedcom RSG910C Ethernet switches

3. July 2018 – Two new Ethernet switches have been added to the Siemens Ruggedcom portfolio. The IEEE 1588 compliant Ruggedcom RSG908C and Ruggedcom RSG910C combine timing information and data communication into a single network. These two switches come with integrated DIN rail mounting and forward facing interfaces for installation in confined spaces. They provide redundant power inputs for both DC and high voltage AC / DC applications, eliminating a single point of failure. The switches are designed for use in harsh environments with varying climatic and environmental conditions and are suitable for digital switchgear, transportation and oil and gas industries.

Tested and certified for extreme temperatures, vibrations and shocks, the Ruggedcom RSG908C and RSG910C are designed to provide reliability for industrial applications requiring high bandwidths and future network extensions.

Both devices provide either a 24/48 VDC (10 – 60 VDC) power supply or a high voltage (85 – 264 VAC / 88 – 300 VDC), depending on the configuration ordered. They can also be ordered with protective varnish.

The Ruggedcom RSG908C has a total of 8 ports including 4 Gigabit SFP ports. It can connect up to 4 devices via its 100BASE-FX LC ports. The Ruggedcom RSG910C has a total of 10 ports including 4 Gigabit SFP ports. It can connect up to 6 devices via its 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 connectors.

The Ruggedcom RSG908C and the Ruggedcom RSG910C can be used for time synchronization in the electrical industry; for high-bandwidth applications such as video streaming in the transportation industry and for time critical applications such as drilling automation, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and remote terminal unit (RTU) solutions for wellhead automation, pipeline monitoring, compression or pumping stations in the oil and gas industry [19659003] About Siemens
