VDMA presents OPC UA demonstrator at the automatica 2018

25. May 2018 – With OPC UA VDMA Robotics + Automation creates the basis for interoperable communication in the Smart Factory (see new VDMA explanatory video). Together with the member companies, the Machine Vision, Integrated Assembly Solutions and Robotics groups are developing vendor-independent information models: in future, the machines will speak the same language.

The association and the industrial partners involved demonstrate the potential of this new communication approach with an OPC UA demonstrator in a concrete and understandable way. Two applications will be shown on the demonstration site in hall B4 (booth 332) at automatica (June 19-22, 2018 in Munich):

1. Skill-based control: An assembly cell for the production of Fidget Spinner integrates components and systems from more than 20 manufacturers. Interoperable integration is achieved through a capability-based description.

. 2 Condition Monitoring: Several robot manufacturers show how condition monitoring can be implemented in the cloud regardless of manufacturer and robot type. All relevant status data are clearly visible on the dashboard.

At the demonstration site, visitors have the opportunity to speak with experts and follow technical presentations.
